Original drawings of legendary athletes past and present
Hello and welcome.
I've started on a series of "action" drawings all measuring 14"x 18". I think of these drawings first and foremost as portrait work so my main focus is to capture the likeness. The other - to convey movement. To accomplish the latter, i try to keep the line-work free flowing...more gestural. I'm very mindful of "over-working" a piece as too much detail can render it static. I'm also using for the first time a paper made by an Italian company Cartiera Magnani(Annigoni). It provides a great drawing surface with just enough texture, and it's 100% acid-free & UV resistant. I think the combination of the beige color and the wool fibers embedded give the drawings a nice antique quality. Hope you enjoy - and thanks for visiting.

I was wondering what could happen with this blog when you run out of this wood like paper. I assume you are going to keep posting things,right?

Great question, as i'm not quite sure myself. I've used other paper- but the drawings don't look as nice in my opinion. The Annigoni paper has a "softness" that i like and makes drawing somewhat easier if that makes any sense. I don't think this paper is very popular or in demand as i find very few stores carrying it. I almost always have to order them.
