Original drawings of legendary athletes past and present
Hello and welcome.
I've started on a series of "action" drawings all measuring 14"x 18". I think of these drawings first and foremost as portrait work so my main focus is to capture the likeness. The other - to convey movement. To accomplish the latter, i try to keep the line-work free flowing...more gestural. I'm very mindful of "over-working" a piece as too much detail can render it static. I'm also using for the first time a paper made by an Italian company Cartiera Magnani(Annigoni). It provides a great drawing surface with just enough texture, and it's 100% acid-free & UV resistant. I think the combination of the beige color and the wool fibers embedded give the drawings a nice antique quality. Hope you enjoy - and thanks for visiting.
*For sports fans & collectors interested in purchasing these drawings or having one custom made, the price is $60 plus shipping. Each is enclosed & shipped in an archival sleeve and backing. Please e-mail me with the player(s) your interested in- from my list or custom(your photo or mine). I will then send an on-line Pay-Pal invoice that will prompt you with secure and convenient paying options. The artwork will be shipped immediately thereafter. Also, for collectors planning on attending specific autograph shows- i can coordinate with you and have pieces ready for that event. I would recommend a black pen or a dark pencil when signing. To see an example, the Pete Rose & Jason Campbell drawings were signed with a black pen. Please e-mail me for additional info. (yimstudio@gmail.com)
